Businesses and Homeowners are Still Dealing with the Peabody MA, Flooding

Early this week the North Shore was affected by a major rain storm, the combination of heavy rain in a short time span and high tide caused for major flooding. The storm left homeowners and business owners with a mess to sift through. In response, we have created some basic guidelines to follow for any type of after-storm damage.

Rules to Follow for Residential Cleanouts and Commercial Cleanouts after the Storm:

• Clean up fast!
• Use fans to help dry out the area that was flooded
• Open all windows to help prevent mold growth
• Use a wet/dry vacuum
• Remove all rugs immediately
• Use gloves to avoid getting cut up, touching mold, etc.
• Keep refrigerator doors closed – If you lost power for more than two hours, toss meat/dairy
• Be aware of drinking water – in case of contamination, keep iodine tablets on hand to purify water
• Keep flashlights and batteries in stock at all time
